For about 10 ys I competed in wildlife carving competitions doing mostly birds and fish. The experience of carving in the round and habitat work has inspired some interesting pieces such as one done for a client in New Jersey where I put a pond complete with beaver and his lodge into the top of a rustic desk. I've also done this idea with a great blue heron hunting in a pond habitat for his next meal.
